Hog's Back Dental Centre

Dr. John Baylis
Dr. John Baylis graduated in 1972 from dental school and spent over 30 years growing what is now known as Hog’s Back Dental Centre. Over the years Dr. Baylis has attended countless continuing education courses including specialty courses with a focus on Orthodontics.

Dr. Baylis plans on continuing to practice dentistry while growing Hog’s Back Dental Centre and enjoying time with his wife and children.

JoAnn
JoAnn has more than a few years of clinical and business experience in the dental industry. She manages all aspects of the office from treatment planning to administrative duties.

Courtney
Courtney is our newest member to Hog's Back Dental. She graduated from Office Administration at St. Laurence College in 2005. Courtney has excellent people skills and is enjoying working at Hog's Back Dental.

Ada
Ada joined Dr. Baylis' team in August 1984. She is a graduate from Career Canada Dental Assisting program and has more than 25 years experience in the dental field.

Shirley
Shirley has worked as a dental assistant since graduating at Career Canada College in 2002. She has assisted at the full gamut of dental procedures and works tirelessly. Her enthusiastic greeting and professional service often make the anxious patients feel comfortable. On the sunny weekends, Shirley enjoys powerful walking outdoor or sitting by blossoming flower in the garden with a favorite book on hand.

Melissa
Melissa graduated from Algonquin College's Dental hygiene program in 2006. Prior to dental hygiene, she took dental assisting so she has a good grasp on all dental procedures that occur in a dental office. Melissa became part of the Hog's Back Dental team in June 2007, and is enjoying growing relationships with patients and other team members. When Melissa was 9 years old she met a 'dental therapist'/hygienist who worked in the remote community where she lived at the time. She became friends with this wonderful individual, and was inspired as she saw how she connected the community with her dental knowledge. From the early age of 9, Melissa knows she wanted to be involved in the world of dentistry. Apart from work, Melissa enjoys cooking, yoga and spending time with her family.

Heather
Heather was very excited to join Hog’s Back Dental Centre team in March 2009. She was very impressed with the state of the art equipment, but most of all with the friendly environment. She Graduated with honors from Algonquin College as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2002 and is a member of the CDHA, CDHO, and ODHS. She has a genuine concern for the healthy well being of each person she treats and enjoys serving and educating others with compassion. She strives to provide the highest quality of care in a very caring and gentle way. Heather is the mother of 2 grown children and loves spending her free time with her husband motor biking, camping and gardening.

Kathy
Kathy was born and raised in Ottawa. She attended Algonquin College for both the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs. She graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1981. She has worked as a hygienist in private practice for 28 years bringing a wealth of experience when she joined Dr. Baylis and staff in 1996. The reason she chose the Dental Hygiene field was that is allowed her to combine the role of health provider and educator. She also loves to communicate and meet new people. She is married and has 3 children that have kept her busy over the years when not at the office. She enjoys walking, playing softball, kayaking, but most of all escaping the city to the cottage where she can relax and get away from it all.
